Breathing Technique To Help You Be Present With Your Dog

How to deepen your presence


Today, I wanted to teach you a technique I use every day. It helps me be present in my body and in the moment. I use this to help me focus on energy healing and animal communication. But, it’s an amazing technique for you to use to be more present in your body. Use it when you are with your dog, when you start training, or when your dog needs you because they’re ill. Use it when you want to focus on something they’re going through or to have a deeper connection with them.

This can be used in so many situations, and I really wanted to share it with you today to help you enhance this ability. If you do this often, ideally once a day, you will notice a change. It will affect your bond with your dog, with others, and your surroundings. It’s a wonderful tool to add into your life on a daily basis.


Technique to deepen the connection with your dog


I call this technique the water column technique. You want to visualize a column of water. It starts at the base of your tailbone. It goes up your spine, over your head, and ends between your eyebrows. That’s where your third eye is. On your in-breath, you start at the base of your column. As you breathe in, you visualize the water going up to the top between your eyes. When you breathe out, it will go back down to your tailbone. You’re going to repeat this 21 times. You breathe in, and the water goes up, and you breathe out, and the water goes down.

I don’t want you to just see it outside. I want you to try to see it as if you are inside the water. You are in your spine. You see it moving up and down. Really try to get present in the body and follow it up and down. To help in the counting, because when you count you sometimes lose your visualization, you will use the joints of your fingers.

You’re going to start on your index finger, and you’re going to count from 1 to 21, and you’ll use your thumb to do the counting. So you start on your index finger go all the way around come back and then finish on your ring finger and that will be 21. You can watch the video if you would like to see what I’m talking about. You don’t have to worry about actually counting numbers. Every time you breathe in and breathe out, you just move your finger down to the next joint, and you do this 21 times.

Continue practicing

At first, as you breathe in and out, you might go pretty quickly. But, as you practice, your breath in and out will slow down. So, it will take you longer. You want to take as much time as possible. But, you can simply start with a comfortable breath in and out. Then, expand that time as you practice. It’s easy. You’ll notice that the more you practice, the more you’ll be able to see being inside that column of water. You’ll see it go up and go down. Really follow it with your eyes. Practice this often. Really try it. You will notice that you can be more present and can drop into presence easily. You can be more aware of your dog. It will help deepen your relationship with your dog.
