The 5-minute massage that will make your dog think he’s at the spa!

Has your dog ever had a really stressful or painful day, and and he begs you for a day at the spa?

Well now you will be able to grant his wishes!

By learning this five-minute deep pressure technique, you’ll make a huge positive difference in his stress and pain level and end up with a much calmer, happier dog!

This massage technique is really useful for dogs suffering from arthritis, phobias, chronic stress, as well as very energetic dogs!

Ideally, try doing this massage for 5 minutes twice a day for 3-4 weeks to really see permanent changes in your dog.

Massage technique for your dog

Start by placing your dog in front of you, turn to the side, and hold his collar with your non-dominant hand.

Apply gentle, deep pressure with your other hand. Wrap your whole hand, palm and fingers, around your dog’s upper body. You can start just in front of his ears or on his neck behind his ears.

Exert gentle, deep pressure with the entire surface of your hand on the dog’s body. Then, slowly slide your hand from head to tail, your hand pressing down on your dog’s body. If you think you’re sliding your hand slowly, slow it down twice more! This is the speed you should be moving.

You will need to squeeze your fingers and thumbs against your dog’s body as you press down, but don’t press too hard, your dog should be able to stand comfortably while you do this. You can also do this with your dog lying down, if he’s more comfortable in that position.

Once your dog is happy that you are working along his back, you can extend these slow, firm movements to the rest of his body and limbs as well.

Notice the changes in your dog

You will begin to notice your dog’s eyes softening, and some dogs may close their eyes completely. His breathing will slow down, and you might see some yawning as he relaxes deeply.

Your dog may stretch and take a deep breath, then sigh. These are all positive signs that the massage is doing its job.

So enjoy this moment with your pooch, knowing that you will really help him when he needs it most. And the bonus is that you will deepen your relationship with him at the same time!
